Position Description:  Performs a variety of customer service, in store, over the counter, through shop, or on the phone. Assist Customers including wholesale/vendors in selecting required parts, suggest manufacture and or campaign related parts requirements, offers specials, and ensures the customer is exposed to the full product line. Stocking duties related to the receiving, sale and delivery of parts and accessories that contribute to the efficient, safe, and profitable operation of the dealerships parts department. Answers phone calls, pulls fill orders from stock, provides price quotes and other information.  Is able to prioritize all noted tasks at the increased Sales demand and volume aligned with Back Counter book of business.

Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Sells and gives quotes on retail parts to customers through service repair orders.
  • Sells and gives quotes to wholesalers and retail customers on parts counter tickets.
  • Sells products to repair or accessorize the customer's needs and wants.
  • Maintain customer goodwill by greeting and acknowledging all customers he/she comes in contact with. 
  • Assist in handling customer complaints and concerns and make sure the problem is corrected to the customer and dealership’s satisfaction.
  • Assist in keeping parts department clean and orderly. 
  • Records all sales and/or customer transactions that occur through repair orders and or counter tickets. 
  • Provides service technicians with parts over the counter or to service bays as needed.
  • Processes warranties, and new return merchandise as required at a point of sale.
  • Informs Parts Manager or new vendors and acquires resale cards and W-9’s of new vendors.    
  • Follows company cash, credit, and check processing procedures when collecting payments from customers and vendors.
  • Keeps himself/herself groomed and clothed per the dealership guidelines.
  • Should be knowledgeable on products by staying updated with manufacture and campaign by training and reading/comprehending bulletins. 
  • Performs other tasks as required by Parts Manger.
  • Education – High school diploma or general education degree (GED), 1-3 months
  • related experience or training, automotive experience preferred.
  • Must have an excellent customer service focus with a helpful/friendly/inviting demeanor.
  • Strong organization skills, able to multi-task, and can manage time to meet frequently.

  • Must have a clean driving record and be able to pass an MVR and background check.

Education & Experience: 

High school diploma or general education degree (GED), 1-3 months related experience or training, automotive experience preferred. Must demonstrate the ability to read, write and communicate the English language.

Language Skills:

Ability to communicate verbally or in written form effectively.  Ability to read, analyze and interpret written and verbal instructions. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence, including writing grammatically correct emails and text messages.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, and customers.  

Mathematical Skills: 

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, and percentages. Ability to calculate ETA (estimated time of arrival) of product by giving time frame in date and clock time format. 

Reasoning Ability: 

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral and diagram form. Ability to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions.  Ability to apply common sense understanding to carryout instructions furnished in written or oral form.  

Other Skills & Abilities:

Skill and ability to operate a computer.  Skill and ability to organize and prioritize work.  Skill and ability to meet deadlines and operate office equipment such as copy, scanner and fax machines.  Skill and ability to use company software. Skill and ability to use manufacturer software. Skill and ability to locate parts and give ETA on products in different geographical location of the country.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to work 5 days a week, 8 to 10 hours per day. The employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to walk and reach with both hands and arms. The employee is required to bend, stoop, crouch, reach, for products in shelves and drawers.  The employee is frequently required to sit or stand as needed. May require walking primarily on a unlevel surface for periodic periods throughout the day. Maybe required to climb stairs. Reaching above shoulder heights, below the waist or lifting as required to fill customer orders of product, or store materials throughout the workday.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50-60 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, employee maybe exposed to fumes/odors of automotive shop related surroundings and other hazardous materials. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.  Primary environment: Various conditions including cold and heat, and indoor/outdoor settings including warehouse, service area, and outside of the building. Walking primarily on unlevel surfaces for periodic periods throughout the day. Including surfaces that may have automotive fluids and uneven terrain.
